Daniel Dean, Age 21

Private, 875, 10th Battalion, Lincolnshire Regiment.

Daniel was the son of Mr George and Mrs Catherine Dean of Ivy House, Horsehay.

His father had passed away before the war and his Mother had first moved to East Lynn, Madeley and then immigrated to Edmonton, Canada. Daniel originally enlisted into the South Staffordshire Regt (14705) in Oct 1914 before being transferred to the Lincolns alongside a batch of other soldiers who had enlisted into the South Staffs, The Stafford's had a full complement of men but the Lincolns required men to make up their numbers hence the transfer.

Daniel was killed in action on the 9th August 1916 and lies buried at the Millencourt Communal Cemetery in Grave A.31
